Many employees aren’t happy. In fact, employee engagement is at an all time low. And it’s considered the biggest challenge for employers, with the UK lagging way behind other countries in terms of employer’s optimism about employee engagement and productivity.
But so long as employers send out negative messages, employees are going to find it hard to do their best work.
And if those at the very top aren’t displaying it, then it’s down to those who are directly responsible for managing talent – the HR people – to start putting it out there.
Optimism will help build the trust that has been lost…trust that leaders will do the right thing is needed, but also trust that they know what to do! And that they’re willing to put themselves on the line to do it.
Trust cannot become a performance multiplier unless the leader is prepared to go first
So come on HR, lead the way! Go beyond the nuts and bolts of hiring and firing, show the top guns how engagement is done, and make your role more inspiring – your employees need you!
